A little preparation leaves more room to enjoy the experience. Here is how we make your first hour at the yard feel clear and comfortable.
Arrive with time to settle
Your first visit starts at the office, where we talk about your experience and fit a helmet. There is no need to know the names of every piece of equipment. We will show you what matters, introduce your instructor and make sure you know where to find the facilities.
Choose practical clothing
Comfortable trousers and sturdy boots with a small heel are a useful start. Avoid loose scarves and jewellery that could catch. Bring a layer for changing weather and tell us in advance if you need to borrow equipment or discuss access.
Leave with a clear next step
After your ride, we talk through what felt comfortable and what you would like to practise. Progress is personal: sometimes the most useful achievement is simply feeling relaxed beside a horse.
Our coaches are happy to discuss these routines during a first visit. Every horse and rider is different, so follow your instructor’s guidance and make time to ask questions.

Knowing where to arrive and what happens before mounting would make a first lesson feel much calmer. The short clothing checklist is useful too.
