Rider notes

A Welcome Worth Returning To

Ella Turner

Returning rider

★★★★★

A thoughtful experience

I had not ridden for years and was nervous about starting again. Iris gave me space to settle, explained each step and helped me enjoy the small wins.

Oliver Reed

Junior rider parent

★★★★★

A thoughtful experience

The junior group is warm, organised and genuinely attentive. My daughter talks as much about caring for the ponies as she does about her riding.

Sophie Lane

Trail rider

★★★★★

A thoughtful experience

The woodland ride was beautifully paced. We had time to notice the landscape, and Miles made sure everyone felt comfortable before leaving the yard.

A few useful answers

Feel At Home Before You Arrive

New places bring questions. Here are a few things riders often ask before their first visit.

Do I need any riding experience?+

No. First Saddle is designed for complete beginners. Tell us about your comfort around horses when you enquire, and we will choose a suitable introduction with plenty of time on the ground.

What should I wear and bring?+

Wear comfortable trousers and boots with a small heel. We provide fitted riding helmets. Bring a weather-appropriate layer and arrive fifteen minutes before the session.

How do I choose the right lesson?+

Start with your experience and what you hope to enjoy. Our team can suggest a private introduction, a small group or a trail assessment. No online payment is needed to ask a question.
